This week:
General Class Info:
Description- Various grade levels at Bethany School focus on specific aspects, stories, or figures from the Christian Tradition. The 5th Grade Christian Ed. class will look at the Christian Tradition as a whole to see how these parts fit together. Our specific areas of focus will be Christian beliefs, worship, scriptures, history, spirituality, prayer, church structure, and ministry in and to the world. We will place a special emphasis on the Episcopal tradition that is are the core of Bethanys spiritual life, but in each section we will look at the beliefs and practices of other Christian churches as well. Participation and engagement in class discussions is very important to this course and a big part of the final grade. Remember, there are no "wrong" questions or opinions in our discussions. Every student's individual contribution to our lesson will be highly and equally valued.
Classroom Expectations Assignments- It is expected that all homework, projects, and in-class assignments will be completed and turned in on time. I understand the homework load that students carry, and will work hard to make sure that most assignments can be completed in-class, but there may be a few assignments to be completed at home.
Respect- The Bethany Honor Code which promises trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship is at the heart of all that we do. It is especially important in a class like this where we will be sharing personal opinions and covering potentially sensitive subjects. Please respect your classmates and their opinions.
